SpineAustin - Administaff makes life easier for medical administrator
The Company
SpineAustin handles neck and back pain from
simple strains to the most complex spinal surgeries,
but differs from most in that it takes a conservative,
non-surgical approach to cases. Gloria Banda,
practice administrator, says, “No one else in Austin
handles the complexity of cases that we do,” and
many of those cases are referrals from other
physicians. “We do a lot of correction on what
other doctors have attempted to fix,” Banda
continues, and that reputation means that
SpineAustin receives some of the most complex
cases of neck and back pain from across the state.
The Challenge
SpineAustin takes a multidisciplinary team
approach, pooling expertise to develop a
conservative treatment plan for each patient.
Physical therapy, injection suite and X-rays are
onsite, meaning that much of the diagnostic
testing and treatment are received in one location,
which also creates the clinic’s biggest challenge –
“educating insurance companies about what we
do,” Banda says, “and getting them to pay for
treatment that’s not taking place in a hospital
setting.” With so much of her time focused on
educating carriers about why SpineAustin takes
the approach they do, Banda needs someone else
to handle personnel and administrative issues.
The Solution
SpineAustin became an Administaff client
before Banda joined the clinic, and “our doctors
want happy employees,” she says. “Being part of

and the things they provide like good health

all make my life easier. Facilitating payroll is an

with them.”
The Value
“It’s nice to have answers readily at hand and
someone I can fall back on,” Banda continues. “I
don’t have a human resources (HR) degree, and I
do have questions. The Austin office has held a
monthly series of educational seminars that I’ve
attended and taken managers (from SpineAustin)
with me. I always leave with at least one new piece
of knowledge that I didn’t have before.”

“I have a good relationship with Administaff,”
Banda says. “I can phone them and get answers
anytime I need them. I’ve told friends that
Administaff is always there to guide you when you
need it or ask for it, and I’m very confident that
things are getting done. I don’t worry about things
with Administaff – I love it, and I plan to keep using
them. Doing HR in-house is a long way down the
road. We’ll stay with Administaff.”
