Legiant- Employer sees savings in health care, hiring costs with Administaff
The Company
Legiant, a privately held company based in
Austin, TX, provides Web-based time accounting
for payroll, attendance, leave and project tracking.
Legiant provides flexible solutions that help
organizations maximize the profitability and
productivity of their workforce. Walter Ross,
CEO, states, “Our customers range from Fortune
500 firms to small start-ups in a variety of
industries. Legiant Timecard is a recognized
innovator in time accounting for payroll,
attendance, leave requests and labor tracking.”
The Challenge
Innovative solutions to meet customer needs is
critical, especially in light of new technology,
regulations and global competition. “Sarbanes
Oxley, HIPAA, the Web and employee self-service
are all key changes that affect our industry. Time
and attendance is no longer a clock on the wall and
a payroll interface,” Ross says. “It touches every
employee, and it has become a critical productivity
tool. Our most important resource is our people,
and issues that affect our ability to attract, hire,
compensate, train and provide a positive working
environment are key.” Facing rising health care
costs and hearing key employees requesting
assistance with that cost, Legiant began looking at
professional employer organizations (PEO) and
evaluated two before choosing Administaff.
The Solution
What Ross values most about Legiant’s relationship
with Administaff is “the peace of mind of having
our total human resources (HR) function to payroll
processing outsourced. We have used (Administaff
for) recruiting and hiring (10 new employees
this year), training from customer service to
manager training, Discovering Individual Styles
of Communication (DISC) and online courses,
and the competitive benefits package allows us to
attract employees.”
The Value
“In benefits costs, the change for one employee was
equivalent to a $5,000 yearly raise,” Ross continues.
“Also, our retirement options (previously) were
expensive, with a five percent front load on each
employee’s contribution as an administrative fee.
The change to the (Administaff) 401(k) product was
wonderful.” Add to that the peace of mind, removal
of distractions and stress of HR issues that Ross
counts as invaluable benefits.
The Return on Investment
Ross believes the decision to go with Administaff
was the right one. “We’ve saved more than
$50,000 in employee-paid health care, plus more
than a $30,000 savings in recruiting, interviewing and hiring.”
