Success Depends on the Proper Organizational Systems
By Joe Caulfield, District Manager, Administaff,
an Associate Member of IBC
What if you knew you could save yourself hundreds
of man-hours every year simply by being better organized? The prospect
of saving time is obviously a popular one, given the best-selling
books and busy lecture circuits that promise to teach you the secrets
to success. Although there are many approaches to this dilemma,
the recurring theme in all of them is using your time wisely.
Saving time becomes even more critical when you are a business owner
or manager. You find more demands on your day and, in spite of the
longer hours youre working, less time to get things done.
In many ways, running a small business requires more of your time
than running a major corporation. For a small bank, the priorities
of keeping customers happy, attracting new customers and, of course,
making a profit, are among hundreds of other daily chores. In addition
to being the head of the bank, you become head of the personnel
department, the payroll department, the property management department,
the training department, the benefits department, the employer regulatory
compliance department, the bookkeeping department and the complaint
department.
With all the day-to-day responsibilities of
running a profitable bank, most bank managers dont have the
time or inclination to run all the other departments as well. Unfortunately,
those jobs still need to be done.
Enter Professional Employer Organizations (PEOs).
The PEO industry was born specifically to address this age-old problem
so much to do, so little time. At Administaff, one of the
leading PEOs in the country, the mission is to handle a wide range
of administrative tasks by becoming an off-site human resources
department. By outsourcing these tasks to Administaff, a small business
can remove the administrative burdens from their own workload with
the confidence that professionals will handle them. As part of the
Administaff team, bankers can concentrate on running a profitable
bank instead of dabbling in benefits or employer liability management,
or struggling with employment regulations compliance or employee
administration issues.
Administaff has created the Personnel Management
System to provide its clients with a virtual HR department. Every
Administaff client has a service professional in essentially every
area of personnel management imaginable. Administaffs Recruiting
& Selection professionals will help you find the right people
without all the hassle. From developing job descriptions to conducting
background checks to providing pre-employment testing tools and
evaluation, Administaff will help attract the highest quality staff
possible.
Administaff will also help you achieve your
organizational goals by developing employee potential. This may
include designing employee performance measurement tools, building
compensation and incentive plans, or resolving employee disputes.
With the goal of more productive employees, Administaff can help
improve individual and group performance.
Administaffs Training & Development
services allow you to use training dollars more efficiently and
effectively. With a wide range of training courses available, Administaff
can help make employees more productive, which in turn makes your
business for profitable.
Health insurance, a retirement plan and educational
assistance also are handled by Administaff. With approximately 38,000
worksite employees nationwide, Administaff offers buying power small
businesses cant access on their own. This translates into
top-notch health coverage and a 401(k) plan, as well as an Employee
Assistance Plan (EAP). In a competitive work environment, Administaff
helps level the playing field for small businesses by making their
benefits packages competitive with those at major corporations.
Administaffs unemployment specialists,
safety consultants, workers compensation specialists and human
resource experts help keep you up-to-date on liability issues. In
addition to handling workers compensation and unemployment
claims, they can provide safety reviews and policy development,
and instruction related to such issues as conflict resolution and
employee termination. With Administaff you should lower risk and
reduce your employer liability through more effective management
of employer obligations.
Once the administrative headaches are taken
care of, you may also want to take advantage of Administaffs
owner-support services. These include such activities as business
continuation planning, personnel consulting, executive benefits,
financial planning and education services. These forward-thinking
resources can help you plan more effectively for the future.
Keeping pace with changing employment-related
regulations that affect your business is another service provided
by Administaff. By handling employer regulatory reporting and agency
interface, Administaff can help protect you against fines and penalties.
In addition, Administaff handles a wide range
of day-to-day tasks related to employment administration. Administaff
can take care of the payroll, payroll taxes, quarterly reports,
garnishments, direct deposits, W2s and W4s, and more.
Running a bank is hard work. But there are ways
to make your job easier. Prioritizing how you spend your time is
the first step toward getting organized. If you find you are spending
too much time on personnel management tasks, it may be time to take
a look at what Administaff can do for you.
